Posted rules / notesSubmissions must ONLY be made by the band/artist or a designated representative. Email a download link with band/artist name, album/song names, track listing, contact name and email, website and social media, where the artist is from and a short bio, subject line "Local 518 Show Submission". For an album or EP indicate up to 3 tracks for consideration. Preferred format is MP3 encoded at 320kbps or WAV; free transfer and cloud storage links are encouraged. Profanity is strongly discouraged: identify any song that is not FCC clean and supply either a cleaned version or the problem words with timestamps. Physical route: WEXT-FM, Attn: [name on your sheet] 518 Show, 4 Global View, Troy,. The Local 518 Show is for artists based in, or with strong ties to, the Capital District; the roots rock format of 97.7 WEXT-FM is generally a determining factor for airplay, but nearly all except extreme styles are considered.
What to send WEXT
Use their form, not their inbox. WEXT routes submissions through a submission form, and anything that arrives another way tends to sit unread. Fill in every field, including the ones that feel optional.
A clean edit is not optional here. WEXT states it plainly, and without one your record can't air in daytime hours no matter how good it is.
They ask for lossless audio. Export a WAV or FLAC from the master rather than bouncing an MP3, and keep about a decibel of headroom so broadcast processing has room to work.
Name the show, not the station. WEXT routes music to specific programmes, so say which programme your record is for in the subject line and send it to the address the station publishes. A general submission goes nowhere here.
WEXT only takes music from artists in its own area. That is the station's own posted rule, so unless you are near Amsterdam this is one to skip rather than send blind.
WEXT is volunteer-run. The person reading your email is doing it for love of the music, so be brief, be human, and follow up once at most.
Then wait. Give it about two weeks, send one polite follow-up, and let it go after that. Music directors remember the artists who were easy to deal with.

What kind of music does WEXT play?
WEXT programmes rock. Sending an off-format record is the most common wasted submission, so check the fit before you send.
Does WEXT require a clean version?
Yes. WEXT specifies clean or FCC-compliant audio, so an explicit-only record will not get daytime airplay here.
Can artists from outside the area submit to WEXT?
No. WEXT limits submissions to artists from its own area, so read the posted rule before you send.
Where is WEXT located?

Every door is on your sheet.
Pick your sound and region on Rotation and each of these stations shows its real submission contact and the exact rules it posts: clean edit, WAV, form or mail. Checked by hand and kept current. No station here paid to be listed.
Radio is the free half, and it stays that way. Every station here is free to reach and no station ever pays to be listed. The Doors is the other half: 100 verified places that are not radio, sync libraries, music supervisors, festivals, contests, live sessions and the music press, 43 of which can actually pay an artist. It also lists the 162 we opened and refused, with the reason each one failed, because most lists of this kind are stale and the rejections are the part nobody else will show you. $9.99, the 2026 Q3 edition →
