What is an airplay report?

Airplay report

An airplay report is the record of what a station actually played and when. Many college and community stations log every track through playlist services and publish the results openly, which means an artist can often confirm a spin themselves without asking anyone at the station.

Check before you follow up. Writing to ask whether a record was played, when the station published its playlist publicly, tells the music director you did not look. Confirming a play first and then thanking the specific host who played it is a completely different conversation and the one that builds something.

Public playlists are also how you learn a station before you submit. What a show played last month is a far better guide to whether your record fits than any genre tag, and it costs nothing but time to read.

What the data shows

Airplay data is the reason Rotation tracks what you send. Across the 273 confirmed accepting stations, the exact submission route and rules are published on your sheet, and the outcome of each send is yours to record.

What to do about it

Every door is on your sheet.

Pick your sound and region on Rotation and each of these stations shows its real submission contact and the exact rules it posts: clean edit, WAV, form or mail. Checked by hand and kept current. No station here paid to be listed.

If you have been played before, some of it may already be owed to you. Airplay and streams generate money that is only paid out if somebody claims it, and the pools do not chase you. The Hidden Doors walks six searches you run on your own name, then lists 59 verified routes to money artists never collect. $19, and the radio registry stays free. What is in it →
