One-sheet
A one-sheet is a single page that tells a music director everything they need to decide: who you are, what the release is, what it sounds like, where you are based, the release date, and how to reach you. One page, plain, made to be read in under a minute.
The purpose is to save the reader work, not to impress them. A music director going through submissions is answering three questions: does this fit us, is it ready to air, and who do I contact. A one-sheet that answers those in the first ten seconds does more for you than a beautifully designed document that buries them.
Write the sound description honestly and specifically. Two comparable artists and a sentence about what the record actually does beats a paragraph of adjectives. Include the track listing, mark which tracks are clean, and put the contact on the page rather than only in the email.
At least 8 of the 273 confirmed accepting stations ask explicitly for a one-sheet, EPK or press materials alongside the music. Many more expect it without saying so, which is why a missing one-sheet is a common reason a technically perfect submission goes nowhere.
